We successfully gained planning permission in 2010 for an additional storey on this property in West London. The house had previously been refurbished in 1995 with a rich palette of leather floors and a cantilevered main stair. Our brief was to create new accommodation including a new stair, which would have it’s own character in an environment that already had a strong & imposing aesthetic.
Our new stair explores ideas of optical illusions and the creation of a Romeo and Juliet style balcony within the staircase. It is playful and elegant and was beautifully made in American walnut and English oak.
